Statement: The search for a milder climate led me to TN, specifically Crossville/FFG because of the serene beauty, patriotism, values, and quieter pace of life. I was immediately drawn to the Art Center, joined, began volunteering, taking classes and meeting wonderful people.

Biography: I was born and raised in northeast Ohio then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in early adulthood and stayed there for 25 years. After retiring from careers in nursing and higher education administration, I returned to northeast Ohio to be near family. I have always had an interest in all forms of art, but only started dabbling in card making when I was in my 40’s. A friend introduced me to it as a form of therapy during breast cancer treatment (25 year survivor, yeah!). I really enjoyed making cards and began experimenting with using a variety of materials for them. Little by little, during my working career, I explored other art endeavors such as quilting, painting, mixed media & glass art.

My passion is bringing together colors, patterns and textures to create something visually entertaining and that just maybe stirs the soul. Besides, it’s just plain fun! I consider myself a novice and have much to learn from the many talented Art Guild members.

Art has begun to replace some of my former riskier interests such as skiing, biking, horse-back riding and tennis. I do, however, try to remain active hiking, swimming and maybe a little pickle-ball.
