Hufford, Rosalyn

Watercolor

Statement: Rosalyn Hufford was born and raised on a ranch in Northeastern Wyoming that was homesteaded by her family over 100 years ago. She has worked in government, academia and communications most of her adult life.  She and her husband lived in several places before making the decision to move to TN after they both retired.

Biography: She participated in several aspects of the fine arts starting early and continuing throughout her life.  After working in charcoal drawing, oil painting and pottery, she took time away from her artwork to raise a family.  Afterwards, she was introduced to watercolor painting. “I immediately fell in love with the beauty and freshness of transparent watercolors and all the different aspects and many challenges it provides as it relies strictly on timing.”

“I get my enthusiasm and motivation to paint from all of the beauty that surrounds us, whether it be in nature or the sunlight on a flower or a human face.” She paints primarily from her own photographs in floral, portrait, landscape subjects as well as plein air painting.
