Liberty, Jean

Sculpture

Statement: After a career in engineering and business, Mr. Jean Liberty left the states and traveled abroad. He spent much of his time in Asia, developing new business in the semiconductor industry. He resided in Pennsylvania before making his residence in Fairfield Glade.  Jean created the sculpture that is in the front of the Plateau Creative Art Center.

Biography: After moving to Fairfield Glade from Pennsylvania, Jean Liberty visited the Art Center in Fairfield Glade. Due to his extensive career in engineering and his artistic talents, Jean was drawn to the mobile and stabile structures displayed at the Art Center.

Jean is inspired by the beauty of flowing organic shapes and the local stone in Crab Orchard. His early works consisted of large pieces created for the Art Guild and other clients. His current work is creating indoor mobiles and stabiles, which are freestanding, abstract sculptures or structures made of various materials. Jean is considering a new project; an entry arch for the Art Center’s Sculpture Trail.
