Statement: In the process of visiting a close friend and making multiple trips to visit and hike, Twyla Marti fell in love with Tennessee. She’d lived in Phoenix, Arizona, for the last 30-plus years, where she worked mainly in the construction industry for a large General Contractor. She also worked for a significant trade bid depository. She ended her career working for one of the largest developers in Arizona and Kansas.
Biography: In 2018, Twyla and her husband Manuel moved from Phoenix, Arizona, to Fairfield Glade. Visiting the Art Center was an influence when they were considering moving to Tennessee but more than that, moving to the Glade. She became a member of the Art Center in 2018, shortly after their move.
Although Twyla studied business in college, Mixed- Media, along with Fiber Art, is her passion. She took classes from some of the top artists in the country. She is eager to learn new techniques in these areas to enhance her work.
She is an avid hiker and finds her inspiration comes through nature and being in the company of other artists. She especially enjoys the class format. Traveling and visiting art centers and galleries, wherever she is, is a passion.
Twyla has taught at the Art Center and hopes to continue teaching Mixed-Media to anyone interested. The Art Center has a great list of classes offered. She hopes to see more Mixed-Media and Fiber Art classes offered. Her eyes are open for someone to teach paper collage, of which she is sure to be a student.
