Fiber, Mixed Media

Statement:

Since I was very young, I have worked in the fiber medium. Being raised in a family of seamstresses and embroiderers, there were always fiber projects in the works. As I matured, I have gained my own voice in this medium with various ways to use fiber and fabric in my artwork. Although I have never been a quilter, I am greatly influenced by how quilt artists use fabric choices to create images and patterns. My fiber pieces use all of these experiences in working with fabric and threads but in a unique way.

I have been working in Mixed Media and Fiber Art for over 40 years. I have had the privilege of studying with many of the top artists/instructors in these fields which has helped me develop my own style. I am an avid hiker and find inspiration through nature, traveling, visiting art centers and galleries along with studying and exchanging ideas with other artists.

Biography:

I am a mixed media and fiber artist inspired by nature, travel, and the creative energy of other artists. Although I studied business in college, I’ve spent years taking classes with top mixed-media artists across the country, and am always eager to learn new techniques and ideas to expand my work.

Since moving from Arizona to Tennessee, I’ve found a wonderful creative community in Fairfield Glade and have enjoyed teaching classes at the Plateau Creative Arts Center and Tellico Village. My passion is exploring mixed media, fiber, and paper collage—and sharing that love with others.
