Olin, Bev

Oil, Pastel

Statement: Beverly grew up in Western New York and moved around to various communities around the Buffalo area.  She and her husband discovered Fairfield Glade through a timeshare vacation in 1985.  After frequent timeshare visits they discovered the Art Guild and newly established Christ Lutheran Church in FFG.  Both places offered friendly people and activities they enjoyed.  The Olins retired here in 1996.  Art has always been an interest in Bev’s life.

Biography: Beverly has been a pastor’s wife, raised two children, and worked in education.  She has degrees in elementary education, reading and learning, and behavioral disorders.   For over 30 years Bev worked in the school systems of Clarence, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Cheektowaga.

Bev and her husband shared one very unique experience during their retirement years by serving as teachers at a mission school in Madagascar.  This inspired many pastel paintings of the people, especially mothers and children.  Pastel and oil are Bev’s favorite mediums.

Once in Fairfield Glade, Bev wasted no time becoming involved in the Art Guild.   The guild gained a prized member in Bev who has served in many capacities:  as president twice, in running children’s programs and art shows, with Friday night openings and scheduling art classes.  She’s been most valuable in making the Fairfield Glade community aware of the talent and opportunities available at the Art Guild.  Being involved in the dreaming and planning of the Art Guild’s facility has been a special joy to Bev.   As a “senior” member Beverly is thrilled to see new members and the enjoyment everyone has working together to continue the mission of the Fairfield Glade Art Guild in the Plateau Creative Arts Center.
