Statement: Judy Ryan worked in the court system in Atlanta, Georgia, as a Deputy Sheriff/ Bailiff. She made a career change into Real Estate when she moved to Pensacola, Florida, and remained in Real Estate after moving to the Nashville area in 2012.

Biography: In 2019, the beautiful hills of Tennessee drew Judy and her husband, Jerry, to Fairfield Glade. When she arrived, Judy visited the Plateau Creative Arts Center and spoke to some of the Art Guild Members.  In 2021, she became a member. Exploring and sharing with other artists has helped her grow in her fascination with painting.

Judy’s appreciation of art began early in her life. She started sketching and undertook a course in drawing at Pensacola Junior College in 2009. Judy knew she’d found her niche when her instructor, an international artist, opened a studio in her home, and she began putting color to her drawings.

After trying other mediums, Judy appreciates the adaptability of oils and returns to this medium, which she has worked in her entire career. She loves landscapes but has recently been “hooked” on barns.

Teaching is not an interest of Judy’s, but she’s eager to learn new ways to enhance her painting experience. Her paintings reflect serenity and peace. She is interested in many art forms, and when not painting, she enjoys walking and music, anything that challenges her brain.
